The Hidden Dangers of Neglected Residential Drain Cleaning in Dundee, Michigan

When something goes wrong with your home’s plumbing, you want a clear answer and a repair that addresses the actual problem. Advanced Plumbing of Monroe provides residential plumbing services for homeowners in Dundee, Michigan, including drain cleaning, pipe repairs, fixture service, water heater work, and other common plumbing needs.

You might be dealing with a dripping faucet, a toilet that will not flush, a clogged kitchen sink, a leaking pipe, or water that never gets properly hot. Whatever the issue, start by explaining what you have noticed. Call (734) 243-8830 to discuss your plumbing problem and arrange the next step.

Pay attention to recurring clogs, dripping faucets, low water pressure, damp spots beneath sinks, water stains on walls or ceilings, unusual pipe noises, and unexplained increases in water use. A water heater that struggles to provide hot water may also need attention.

Waiting can turn a manageable repair into a larger problem. A small leak may damage cabinets or flooring, while a persistent drain blockage can lead to an overflow or sewage backup. If water is spreading or sewage is entering the home, treat the situation as urgent and call for help.

A plunger may clear a minor toilet or sink clog, and removing visible debris from a drain opening can sometimes help. But if the same blockage keeps returning, several drains slow down together, or water backs up into a tub or sink, the cause may be deeper in the drainage system.

Avoid mixing drain-cleaning products or repeatedly pouring harsh chemicals into a blocked pipe. These products can create safety risks and may damage plumbing. A professional can assess the symptoms and determine whether drain cleaning, a repair, or another approach makes sense. Call (734) 243-8830 to discuss the problem.

Effective Residential Drain Cleaning Solutions for Dundee, Michigan

Your home’s plumbing includes much more than drains. A problem with one fixture, pipe, or appliance can affect your daily routine, and the right solution depends on what has failed.

Targeted Residential Drain Cleaning Services in Dundee, Michigan

Drain Cleaning
Slow sinks, blocked showers, recurring clogs, and drainage backups can make everyday tasks difficult. Residential drain cleaning helps remove obstructions and restore water flow. If multiple drains are affected, the problem may involve a shared drain or sewer line.

Pipe Repair and Replacement
Leaks, damaged pipes, and recurring pipe problems need attention before they cause further damage. Depending on the pipe’s condition and the location of the damage, a repair may be possible or replacement may be the better option.

Water Heater Service
If your water heater produces inconsistent hot water, stops heating, or shows signs of leaking, have the problem assessed. The appropriate work depends on the equipment, the symptoms, and the condition of its components.

Faucets, Sinks, Tubs, Toilets, and Showers
Leaking faucets, malfunctioning toilets, and troublesome bathroom or kitchen fixtures can waste water and disrupt your routine. A plumber can assess the fixture and determine whether repair or replacement is appropriate.

Sump Pumps and Backflow Testing
Sump pump problems can affect your home’s ability to manage water in areas where a sump system is installed. Backflow testing addresses a different concern: checking whether a backflow prevention device is functioning as required. Ask our team about the service relevant to your property.

I have not used Advanced Plumbing before but I can already tell you when I need a plumber, I'll be calling them. My senior neighbor told me this evening that she called you guys this morning for what she thought was a sump pump alarm that had been driving her crazy for hours. One of your service men, Eric I believe she said, showed up and spent a 1/2 looking for the source of the alarm. He found it. It was her Carbon Monoxide detector that was malfunctioning. He advised her that it was important that she replace it, in which, she did. The best part of this story is that they did not charge her a dime to come out. I was so grateful to hear this that I think it is noteworthy to bring attention to this act of kindness from this company and the kind of people you employ. It says a lot about you! Thank you!!!! From the neighbor of the grateful lady you helped this morning!

I have used Advanced for all of my plumbing needs, emergency or routine maintenance. They are able to get me on the schedule very quickly with competitive pricing. Eric is fantastic. He does excellent work, doesn’t do work that isn’t needed and talks you through everything. The other techs I’ve had are just as great. I refer everyone who needs work to them. Don’t hesitate to call them. Hands down, the best around.

Called to get a leak fixed in my upstairs bathroom. (Had an existing access hole in the ceiling) He came out to diagnose the problem, adjusted the water spout and silicone the spout, and put an access in the wall for another angle to see the problem. Said that should fix it. Still leaking called the office and she told me they will come out and diagnose the problem, and I would be charged again. They already came out and missed diagnosed the problem. Now they want to come out again and charge me again for another diagnosis that they didn't solve. I want to support their business but to keep charging to diagnose a problem that isn't correctly diagnose is just wrong. I'm glad to pay for a leak that is fixed. But to keep playing elimination until you find the leak and charging me is not the way to solve this. She didn't have any solutions to give me other than keep charging me.

We appreciate any and all feedback. We did look back at our notes regarding this job. The initial visit on October 30, 2024 was to assess and repair a leak on a 3" pvc sewer line between the first and second floor in the ceiling. We have noted down that there was already a hole cut and it is suspected that approximately 2' needed to be cut out and repaired. That leak was repaired on site by cutting out the bad section of 3” pvc at a coupling that wasn’t glued. On December 9, 2024 we were called back out for a potential follow-up. Our notes state that there was still a leak in the ceiling. Upon arrival, it was described to us that the leak was in a separate area, near the tub, resulting in a new service call, not a follow-up. There was already a hole cut in the drywall ceiling below. Investigative work began where we ran water at the tub/shower fixture. We did not see anything leaking. We did, however, notice that the spout wasn’t siliconed against the shower wall. We adjusted and siliconed the tub spout to the wall and explained that water could sometimes run down the wall behind the spout resulting in a leak. We also cut access on the backside of the tub/shower and found no leaks. We provided and installed an access panel and advised to keep an eye on the area and to call if anything further leaks. Today, March 18, 2025 (99 days after the service call) we received a call stating there was still a leak in the ceiling area. We explained that we would treat this as a new service call to further investigate and diagnose the unknown leak. We understand leaks can be frustrating because they can be hard to locate, especially when we cannot get it to leak while on site. We are more than willing and happy to come out to further diagnose the ongoing leak as a service. We do appreciate your business and feedback and look forward to working with you again in the future.

Had them out to do regular service my hot water on demand system for descaling. They were able to get me in within a day of calling them. The tech Eric explained a lot about the system. He identified a potential issue with the system and fixed it on the spot. The tech was very respectful and performed great work. The scheduler on the phone was friendly and kind. I would recommend them to friends and family for any future plumbing work.

Frequently Asked Questions

What residential plumbing services are available in Dundee, Michigan?

Advanced Plumbing of Monroe offers residential plumbing services for common household problems, including drain cleaning, pipe repair and replacement, plumbing fixture service, water heater service, sump pump solutions, and backflow testing. Call (734) 243-8830 to discuss your plumbing issue and confirm which service fits your needs.

How much do residential plumbing services cost in Dundee, MI?

Every plumbing job is different, so there is no single price that applies to every home. The cost depends on the type of problem, how difficult it is to reach the affected plumbing, the parts and materials needed, and whether the work involves a simple repair or a larger replacement. Call Advanced Plumbing of Monroe at (734) 243-8830 for a quote based on your specific needs.

What can affect the price of a residential plumbing repair?

The condition of your pipes, the location of the problem, the extent of the damage, the replacement parts required, and the amount of labor involved can all affect the final price. A leak under an accessible sink may require a different approach than a damaged pipe inside a wall or beneath a floor. A plumber can assess the issue and explain the recommended work before you decide how to proceed.

How long does residential plumbing work usually take?

The time needed depends on the job. A straightforward fixture repair or accessible drain clog may be resolved during one visit, while hidden leaks, damaged sewer lines, pipe replacement, or water heater work may take longer. The plumber can give you a more useful time estimate after learning about the problem and assessing the conditions at your home.

How do I know when I need a residential plumber?

Call a plumber if you notice persistent dripping, unexplained increases in your water bill, low water pressure, slow or repeatedly clogged drains, gurgling pipes, water stains, damp areas, sewer odors, or a water heater that stops working properly. Multiple drains backing up at once may indicate a problem farther down the drainage system. Addressing these warning signs early can help limit damage.

What happens if I put off a plumbing repair?

A small leak can damage cabinets, flooring, drywall, and other nearby materials. Persistent moisture can also encourage mold growth. Drainage problems may worsen, and a failing pipe can eventually leak or rupture. If you notice sewage backing up or water spreading through your home, treat the situation as urgent and call for plumbing help.

What is included in a residential plumbing service visit?

The work depends on the problem. A service visit may involve assessing the symptoms, inspecting accessible plumbing, identifying the likely cause, explaining the recommended repair, and completing the agreed work. Depending on the issue, service may involve clearing a drain, repairing or replacing a pipe, servicing a fixture, or addressing a water heater problem. Ask about the specific work, parts, and any follow-up needed before the job begins.

Are there alternatives to replacing a plumbing pipe or fixture?

Sometimes. A repair may be suitable when the damage is limited and the surrounding plumbing remains in good condition. Replacement may make more sense when a component is badly damaged, repeatedly failing, or too deteriorated for a dependable repair. The right choice depends on the condition of the plumbing, the likely cause of the problem, and the expected reliability of each option. Ask your plumber to explain the available choices.

Can I fix a clogged drain myself, or should I call a plumber?

A minor clog may respond to a plunger or careful removal of visible debris. If the drain remains slow, the blockage returns, several drains are affected, or sewage backs up, professional drain cleaning may be the better choice. Avoid mixing drain-cleaning chemicals or repeatedly using harsh products, which can create safety risks and may damage plumbing. Call (734) 243-8830 if the blockage persists.

Do you provide emergency residential plumbing help in Dundee?

If you have a burst pipe, a serious leak, an overflowing toilet, or a sewage backup, contact Advanced Plumbing of Monroe at (734) 243-8830 to discuss the problem and ask about current emergency service availability. If it is safe to do so, shut off the water supply to the affected fixture or home while arranging help. Do not assume that emergency appointments are available until service has been confirmed.

How do I choose the right residential plumbing company?

Look for a provider who understands the type of repair you need, communicates clearly, explains the proposed work, and gives you a quote before you authorize the job. Ask about relevant licensing, insurance, warranties, parts, and what happens if the problem returns. Choose a plumber who answers your questions directly rather than recommending work you do not understand.

What results should I expect after a residential plumbing repair?

The goal is to address the cause of the problem and restore normal plumbing function. Depending on the service, that may mean better drainage, a repaired leak, a working fixture, or more reliable hot water. Results depend on the condition of the plumbing and the scope of the repair. If a problem continues or returns, let your plumber know so the underlying cause can be assessed.
