Signs You Need Residential Drain Cleaning in Flat Rock

A clogged kitchen sink can make cooking and cleanup difficult. A backed-up shower or tub can disrupt your whole morning. If you’re dealing with slow drains or standing water in your Flat Rock home, Advanced Plumbing of Monroe can help you find out what’s causing the problem. Our residential drain cleaning services address blockages in household drains and help restore normal water flow. Call us at (734) 243-8830 to explain what’s happening and discuss your options.

A drain that keeps clogging may have more than a simple surface blockage. Hair and soap residue can collect in bathroom drains, while grease and food waste can restrict kitchen pipes. Gurgling sounds, foul odors, and several slow drains at once may point to a blockage farther down the system. If wastewater starts backing up, don’t keep running water into the affected fixtures. Have the problem checked before it causes further disruption or damage.

Don’t wait for a slow drain to become a full backup. A growing blockage can stop water from draining, push wastewater back into fixtures, and create unpleasant odors or unsanitary conditions. If more than one drain is affected, the issue may involve your main sewer line. Call Advanced Plumbing of Monroe at (734) 243-8830 to describe the symptoms and ask about the next available appointment in Flat Rock.

How Our Residential Drain Cleaning Service Works

We start by asking which fixtures are affected, how long the problem has been happening, and whether the drain has clogged before. Those details help us narrow down the likely cause. Depending on the situation, we may use a drain snake, mechanical auger, or another appropriate cleaning method. If the symptoms suggest a deeper blockage or pipe damage, further inspection may be needed. We’ll explain what we find and discuss the recommended work with you before proceeding.

Comprehensive Solutions for Flat Rock Residential Drain Cleaning

Different clogs call for different tools. A drain snake or mechanical auger can break up many common blockages. Hydro jetting uses pressurized water to remove certain types of buildup from pipe walls, but the plumber should first consider the pipe’s material and condition. A drain camera can help locate a stubborn blockage or identify signs of damage when the symptoms call for a closer look.

After clearing a clog, the plumber can check how the drain is flowing and explain whether any further work may be needed. If roots, damaged piping, or a recurring sewer line blockage are involved, clearing the immediate obstruction may not resolve the underlying cause.

I have not used Advanced Plumbing before but I can already tell you when I need a plumber, I'll be calling them. My senior neighbor told me this evening that she called you guys this morning for what she thought was a sump pump alarm that had been driving her crazy for hours. One of your service men, Eric I believe she said, showed up and spent a 1/2 looking for the source of the alarm. He found it. It was her Carbon Monoxide detector that was malfunctioning. He advised her that it was important that she replace it, in which, she did. The best part of this story is that they did not charge her a dime to come out. I was so grateful to hear this that I think it is noteworthy to bring attention to this act of kindness from this company and the kind of people you employ. It says a lot about you! Thank you!!!! From the neighbor of the grateful lady you helped this morning!

I have used Advanced for all of my plumbing needs, emergency or routine maintenance. They are able to get me on the schedule very quickly with competitive pricing. Eric is fantastic. He does excellent work, doesn’t do work that isn’t needed and talks you through everything. The other techs I’ve had are just as great. I refer everyone who needs work to them. Don’t hesitate to call them. Hands down, the best around.

Called to get a leak fixed in my upstairs bathroom. (Had an existing access hole in the ceiling) He came out to diagnose the problem, adjusted the water spout and silicone the spout, and put an access in the wall for another angle to see the problem. Said that should fix it. Still leaking called the office and she told me they will come out and diagnose the problem, and I would be charged again. They already came out and missed diagnosed the problem. Now they want to come out again and charge me again for another diagnosis that they didn't solve. I want to support their business but to keep charging to diagnose a problem that isn't correctly diagnose is just wrong. I'm glad to pay for a leak that is fixed. But to keep playing elimination until you find the leak and charging me is not the way to solve this. She didn't have any solutions to give me other than keep charging me.

We appreciate any and all feedback. We did look back at our notes regarding this job. The initial visit on October 30, 2024 was to assess and repair a leak on a 3" pvc sewer line between the first and second floor in the ceiling. We have noted down that there was already a hole cut and it is suspected that approximately 2' needed to be cut out and repaired. That leak was repaired on site by cutting out the bad section of 3” pvc at a coupling that wasn’t glued. On December 9, 2024 we were called back out for a potential follow-up. Our notes state that there was still a leak in the ceiling. Upon arrival, it was described to us that the leak was in a separate area, near the tub, resulting in a new service call, not a follow-up. There was already a hole cut in the drywall ceiling below. Investigative work began where we ran water at the tub/shower fixture. We did not see anything leaking. We did, however, notice that the spout wasn’t siliconed against the shower wall. We adjusted and siliconed the tub spout to the wall and explained that water could sometimes run down the wall behind the spout resulting in a leak. We also cut access on the backside of the tub/shower and found no leaks. We provided and installed an access panel and advised to keep an eye on the area and to call if anything further leaks. Today, March 18, 2025 (99 days after the service call) we received a call stating there was still a leak in the ceiling area. We explained that we would treat this as a new service call to further investigate and diagnose the unknown leak. We understand leaks can be frustrating because they can be hard to locate, especially when we cannot get it to leak while on site. We are more than willing and happy to come out to further diagnose the ongoing leak as a service. We do appreciate your business and feedback and look forward to working with you again in the future.

Had them out to do regular service my hot water on demand system for descaling. They were able to get me in within a day of calling them. The tech Eric explained a lot about the system. He identified a potential issue with the system and fixed it on the spot. The tech was very respectful and performed great work. The scheduler on the phone was friendly and kind. I would recommend them to friends and family for any future plumbing work.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do residential drain cleaning services cost in Flat Rock, Michigan?

Every drain cleaning job is different, so the cost depends on the problem and the work needed to fix it. Call Advanced Plumbing of Monroe at (734) 243-8830 for a proper quote based on your situation.

What affects the cost of drain cleaning?

The price depends on where the blockage is, how severe it is, how accessible the drain is, and whether the problem involves a fixture drain or the main sewer line. Stubborn buildup, tree roots, damaged pipes, and the need for additional inspection can affect the scope of work. Call us to discuss your home’s plumbing and get an accurate quote.

How long does residential drain cleaning take?

A simple sink or shower clog may be cleared during a relatively short service visit. A blockage deep in the main sewer line, heavy buildup, or a problem that requires a camera inspection can take longer. The time needed depends on what the plumber finds and which method is appropriate.

How do I know if my drains need professional cleaning?

Watch for slow-draining sinks, tubs, or showers, gurgling sounds, unpleasant drain odors, standing water, and water that backs up into another fixture. If several drains have problems at once, the blockage may be in the main sewer line. Recurring clogs are another reason to have a plumber investigate.

What happens if I wait to clear a clogged drain?

A small blockage can grow as grease, hair, soap residue, and other debris collect in the pipe. Drainage may slow further, wastewater may back up into your home, and a serious blockage can lead to water damage or unsanitary conditions. Getting the problem checked early can help prevent a more disruptive repair.

What is included in residential drain cleaning services?

The work starts with assessing the symptoms and locating the likely blockage. Depending on the problem, service may include inspecting the drain, using a drain snake or auger, removing buildup with suitable cleaning equipment, and checking whether water flows properly afterward. If the plumber finds signs of pipe damage or a deeper sewer line problem, further inspection or repair may be needed.

What drain cleaning methods are available?

A drain snake or mechanical auger can break through many common clogs. Hydro jetting uses pressurized water to remove suitable types of buildup from pipe walls, while a drain camera can help identify a blockage or reveal a damaged section of pipe. The right choice depends on the clog, pipe material, and pipe condition. Not every drain is a suitable candidate for every method.

Are professional drain cleaning services better than chemical drain cleaners?

Professional drain cleaning can address the physical blockage and help identify why it keeps returning. Chemical cleaners may provide limited relief for some clogs, but certain products can damage plumbing, and they won’t repair a broken pipe or resolve every main line blockage. A plumber can recommend a method that fits your drainage system.

How often should I schedule residential drain cleaning?

There isn’t one schedule that suits every home. A household with recurring clogs or a history of sewer line problems may need more frequent attention than a home with drains that work normally. Ask a plumber whether preventive cleaning makes sense for your plumbing system.

Can you clear a main sewer line blockage?

Advanced Plumbing of Monroe provides plumbing service for drain problems ranging from individual fixture clogs to more serious drainage issues. If several fixtures back up together, sewage appears in a floor drain, or a toilet gurgles when another fixture drains, the main sewer line may be involved. Call (734) 243-8830 to discuss the symptoms and determine the appropriate next step.

How quickly can a plumber come to my Flat Rock home?

Scheduling depends on current demand, the nature of the problem, and technician availability. Call Advanced Plumbing of Monroe at (734) 243-8830 to explain what’s happening and ask about the next available appointment. If wastewater is backing up, mention that when you call.

What results should I expect after drain cleaning?

The goal is to remove the blockage and restore normal drainage. Results depend on the cause: removing a buildup may resolve a straightforward clog, while a damaged pipe, persistent root intrusion, or recurring sewer line issue may require further work. A plumber can explain what was found and whether additional repairs are advisable.

How do I choose a reliable drain cleaning company?

Look for a plumbing company that explains its findings, discusses suitable cleaning methods, provides a clear quote before approved work begins, and answers your questions without pressuring you into unnecessary repairs. Ask whether the company can investigate recurring clogs rather than simply clear the immediate blockage. For service in Flat Rock, call Advanced Plumbing of Monroe at (734) 243-8830.

What should I do if my drain keeps clogging?

Repeated clogs often mean the blockage has not been fully removed, or another issue is affecting the pipe. A plumber can inspect the drain, check for buildup or damage, and recommend the next step instead of relying on repeated temporary fixes.

Can drain cleaning prevent future plumbing problems?

Cleaning can remove material that restricts water flow, but it cannot prevent every plumbing issue. Avoid pouring grease down the sink, use drain screens to catch hair and debris, and pay attention to recurring slow drainage. If the same drain keeps clogging, have the cause checked.
