Signs You May Need Pipe Replacement or Repair in Flat Rock

A leaking pipe can start as a small nuisance and turn into a problem that damages walls, floors, or the area around your home’s foundation. If you need pipe replacement and repair in Flat Rock, Michigan, Advanced Plumbing of Monroe can help you find the source of the trouble and determine the right fix.

We handle plumbing issues ranging from damaged pipe sections to larger water line and sewer line problems. Sometimes a repair is all you need. When pipes have deteriorated or keep failing, replacement may be the better long-term choice. We’ll assess the problem and explain the work your plumbing needs.

Need help with a leaking or broken pipe? Call Advanced Plumbing of Monroe at (734) 243-8830 to discuss your issue and request a quote.

Pipe problems aren’t always obvious. A leak may sit behind drywall or beneath the ground for a while before you spot it. Watch for these warning signs:

– Water pressure that drops or changes without a clear reason.
– Damp drywall, peeling paint, water stains, or unexplained moisture.
– Rusty, cloudy, or discolored water coming from your taps.
– Wet patches in the yard when there has been no rain.
– A water bill that rises even though your household habits haven’t changed.
– Repeated leaks or repairs in the same section of plumbing.

Don’t ignore these signs. A leaking pipe can damage flooring, drywall, insulation, and nearby building materials. A broken sewer line can allow wastewater to escape or cause backups. The longer a problem continues, the greater the chance that the repair will involve more than the pipe itself.

If you suspect a leak at your Flat Rock property, call Advanced Plumbing of Monroe at (734) 243-8830. We can discuss the symptoms and help determine the next step.

The right choice depends on what’s damaged and the condition of the surrounding plumbing.

A repair may work well when the leak comes from one accessible section and the rest of the pipe is in sound condition. If several sections are corroded, the same pipe keeps leaking, or the damage extends along a water or sewer line, replacing more of the system may save you from repeat service calls.

A temporary patch may slow a leak, but it doesn’t address every underlying problem. A plumber should assess the pipe, identify the likely cause, and explain which options fit the situation. That way, you can make a decision based on the actual condition of your plumbing rather than guesswork.

Call Advanced Plumbing of Monroe at (734) 243-8830 to discuss pipe repair or replacement in Flat Rock, Michigan.

How We Handle Pipe Replacement and Repair

First, we need to understand what’s going wrong. We’ll discuss the symptoms you’ve noticed, assess the affected plumbing, and work to identify the source of the problem.

Once we understand the issue, we’ll explain whether a repair or replacement is appropriate and what the job involves. The work may include fixing a leaking connection, replacing a damaged pipe section, or addressing a problem with a water or sewer line.

We’ll also discuss the expected scope of work and pricing before you approve the job. Our goal is to give you a clear picture of what’s needed so you can make an informed decision about your plumbing.

I have not used Advanced Plumbing before but I can already tell you when I need a plumber, I'll be calling them. My senior neighbor told me this evening that she called you guys this morning for what she thought was a sump pump alarm that had been driving her crazy for hours. One of your service men, Eric I believe she said, showed up and spent a 1/2 looking for the source of the alarm. He found it. It was her Carbon Monoxide detector that was malfunctioning. He advised her that it was important that she replace it, in which, she did. The best part of this story is that they did not charge her a dime to come out. I was so grateful to hear this that I think it is noteworthy to bring attention to this act of kindness from this company and the kind of people you employ. It says a lot about you! Thank you!!!! From the neighbor of the grateful lady you helped this morning!

I have used Advanced for all of my plumbing needs, emergency or routine maintenance. They are able to get me on the schedule very quickly with competitive pricing. Eric is fantastic. He does excellent work, doesn’t do work that isn’t needed and talks you through everything. The other techs I’ve had are just as great. I refer everyone who needs work to them. Don’t hesitate to call them. Hands down, the best around.

Called to get a leak fixed in my upstairs bathroom. (Had an existing access hole in the ceiling) He came out to diagnose the problem, adjusted the water spout and silicone the spout, and put an access in the wall for another angle to see the problem. Said that should fix it. Still leaking called the office and she told me they will come out and diagnose the problem, and I would be charged again. They already came out and missed diagnosed the problem. Now they want to come out again and charge me again for another diagnosis that they didn't solve. I want to support their business but to keep charging to diagnose a problem that isn't correctly diagnose is just wrong. I'm glad to pay for a leak that is fixed. But to keep playing elimination until you find the leak and charging me is not the way to solve this. She didn't have any solutions to give me other than keep charging me.

We appreciate any and all feedback. We did look back at our notes regarding this job. The initial visit on October 30, 2024 was to assess and repair a leak on a 3" pvc sewer line between the first and second floor in the ceiling. We have noted down that there was already a hole cut and it is suspected that approximately 2' needed to be cut out and repaired. That leak was repaired on site by cutting out the bad section of 3” pvc at a coupling that wasn’t glued. On December 9, 2024 we were called back out for a potential follow-up. Our notes state that there was still a leak in the ceiling. Upon arrival, it was described to us that the leak was in a separate area, near the tub, resulting in a new service call, not a follow-up. There was already a hole cut in the drywall ceiling below. Investigative work began where we ran water at the tub/shower fixture. We did not see anything leaking. We did, however, notice that the spout wasn’t siliconed against the shower wall. We adjusted and siliconed the tub spout to the wall and explained that water could sometimes run down the wall behind the spout resulting in a leak. We also cut access on the backside of the tub/shower and found no leaks. We provided and installed an access panel and advised to keep an eye on the area and to call if anything further leaks. Today, March 18, 2025 (99 days after the service call) we received a call stating there was still a leak in the ceiling area. We explained that we would treat this as a new service call to further investigate and diagnose the unknown leak. We understand leaks can be frustrating because they can be hard to locate, especially when we cannot get it to leak while on site. We are more than willing and happy to come out to further diagnose the ongoing leak as a service. We do appreciate your business and feedback and look forward to working with you again in the future.

Had them out to do regular service my hot water on demand system for descaling. They were able to get me in within a day of calling them. The tech Eric explained a lot about the system. He identified a potential issue with the system and fixed it on the spot. The tech was very respectful and performed great work. The scheduler on the phone was friendly and kind. I would recommend them to friends and family for any future plumbing work.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does pipe replacement and repair cost in Flat Rock, Michigan?

The cost depends on the type of pipe, the location of the damage, how much plumbing needs attention, and whether we can repair the affected section or need to replace a longer run. Every plumbing job is different. Call Advanced Plumbing of Monroe at (734) 243-8830 so we can discuss your situation and provide pricing for the work required.

How do I know if my pipes need repair or full replacement?

Recurring leaks, rusty or discolored water, reduced water pressure, damp spots on walls or ceilings, unexplained wet areas in the yard, and frequent pipe problems can all point to damaged plumbing. A plumber can inspect the affected lines, identify the likely cause, and explain whether a targeted repair or replacement is the better option.

How long does pipe replacement take?

A small, accessible pipe repair may be completed during a single service visit. Replacing longer sections, repairing buried water or sewer lines, or working around finished walls and floors can take longer. The schedule depends on the location of the pipes, the extent of the damage, access to the work area, and whether additional repairs are needed. We can give you a clearer timeline after assessing the job.

What happens if I put off repairing a leaking pipe?

Water can spread behind walls, under flooring, and into insulation before you see obvious damage. A persistent leak can contribute to mold growth, damaged building materials, higher water bills, and deterioration around the affected area. A damaged sewer pipe can create separate problems, including wastewater leaks and backups. If you notice an active leak, shut off the water supply when safe to do so and call a plumber.

Can a damaged pipe be repaired, or does it always need to be replaced?

No. A damaged pipe does not always need full replacement. If the problem is limited to one accessible section and the surrounding pipe remains in good condition, a repair may be enough. Widespread corrosion, repeated failures, extensive cracking, or deterioration across several sections may make replacement the more practical choice. We can explain your options after inspecting the plumbing.

What is included in pipe replacement and repair service?

The work may include inspecting the affected plumbing, locating the source of a leak, assessing pipe condition, repairing a damaged section, replacing worn or broken piping, and checking the repaired area for leaks. Water line and sewer line work may involve additional steps based on the pipe’s location and the condition of the surrounding area. The exact work depends on your plumbing system and the problem we find.

What types of pipes and plumbing problems can you help with?

Advanced Plumbing of Monroe handles pipe replacement and repair needs involving residential and commercial plumbing. Depending on the problem, service may involve leaking supply pipes, damaged drain pipes, sewer lines, deteriorated connections, or broken sections of plumbing. Call (734) 243-8830 to describe the issue and confirm the service needed for your property in Flat Rock.

How do you find a leak hidden behind a wall or underground?

We start with the symptoms, such as unexplained moisture, low water pressure, water stains, or wet spots outdoors. We then assess the plumbing and use appropriate diagnostic methods to narrow down the source. The inspection and repair approach depends on the pipe type, its location, and how accessible it is.

How much disruption should I expect during pipe replacement?

The amount of disruption depends on where the pipe runs and how much needs to be replaced. An accessible pipe in a utility area may require little work around the rest of your home. Pipes behind finished walls, beneath floors, or underground may require access openings or excavation. We can explain the expected work area and any likely restoration needs before the job proceeds.

How do I choose a pipe repair plumber in Flat Rock, Michigan?

Look for a licensed and insured plumbing provider where applicable, clear communication about the work, experience with the type of pipe problem you have, and pricing you understand before approving the job. Ask whether the plumber recommends a repair or replacement and why. Advanced Plumbing of Monroe serves the Flat Rock area from its location in Monroe, Michigan. Call (734) 243-8830 to discuss your needs.

Does Advanced Plumbing of Monroe offer emergency pipe repair?

The existing service information states that Advanced Plumbing of Monroe offers 24/7 emergency support. If a pipe bursts or a leak threatens your property, call (734) 243-8830. If it is safe, shut off the water supply and keep away from standing water near electrical equipment while you wait for help.

Will replacing old pipes improve water pressure and prevent future leaks?

It can, provided worn or damaged piping is contributing to the problem. Replacing a deteriorated section may restore normal flow and reduce the chance of another leak in that area. Results depend on the underlying cause; pressure problems can also come from other plumbing components or the water supply. An inspection can help identify what needs attention.

Advanced Plumbing of Monroe serves homeowners and businesses in Flat Rock, Michigan, from its location in Monroe. If you have a leaking supply pipe, a damaged drain line, or a sewer pipe that needs attention, we can discuss the problem and help you determine the service required.

Whether the issue is inside your home or involves an outdoor line, the right repair depends on the pipe’s condition, the location of the damage, and how much work is needed. We’ll help you understand your options and the expected scope of the job.
