Common Residential Plumbing Problems in New Boston, Michigan

A plumbing issue does not have to look serious to deserve attention. A slow drip, a toilet that keeps running, or a drain that takes longer than usual to empty can point to a problem that needs repair. Advanced Plumbing of Monroe helps New Boston homeowners identify plumbing concerns and determine what work is needed. Call (734) 243-8830 to talk through the issue and arrange service.

A leak under a sink can damage cabinets and flooring. Water escaping inside a wall may go unnoticed until you see stains, peeling paint, or damp materials. A clogged drain can become harder to clear, and a failing pipe can cause water damage if it breaks.

Watch for unexplained increases in water use, low water pressure, recurring drain clogs, unusual pipe noises, or changes in your hot water supply. If you spot these signs, have the plumbing checked before the problem gets worse. If water is actively flooding your home, shut off the affected water supply if you can do so safely and call for help.

A burst pipe, failed water heater, or serious leak can disrupt your whole household. If you keep dealing with the same plumbing problem, another quick fix may not address the underlying cause. Advanced Plumbing of Monroe can help assess the issue and discuss the work needed to get the affected plumbing back in working order. Call (734) 243-8830 for service in New Boston, Michigan.

Residential Plumbing Repairs and Installation in New Boston, MI

Your home’s plumbing works hard every day. When something goes wrong, you need to know whether it calls for a small repair, a replacement part, or more involved work. Advanced Plumbing of Monroe helps New Boston homeowners address plumbing problems and understand their options before approving a job.

We focus on identifying the source of the problem, explaining the work involved, and discussing a suitable repair. The right solution depends on the condition of your plumbing, the parts affected, and whether the problem has caused damage elsewhere.

Plumbing Services for New Boston Homes

Leak Detection and Repair
A hidden leak can waste water and damage walls, ceilings, cabinets, or flooring. Signs include damp patches, water stains, peeling paint, and unexplained water use. Finding the source helps determine whether a fitting needs tightening, a pipe needs repair, or a damaged section needs replacement.

Drain Cleaning and Clogged Drains
Slow drains, recurring clogs, and unpleasant drain odors can point to buildup or a blockage. The right cleaning method depends on where the clog sits and what is causing it. If several drains back up at once or the same drain keeps clogging, a closer inspection may be needed.

Water Heater Repair and Installation
Inconsistent hot water, unusual noises, visible leaks, or a water heater that stops working can mean the system needs attention. Depending on its condition, repair may be possible, or replacement may be the better choice. The type of unit, its condition, and your household’s hot water needs all affect the decision.

Pipe Repair and Replacement
Corroded, cracked, leaking, or damaged pipes can affect water pressure and cause property damage. A plumber can assess the affected section and explain whether a localized repair or a larger replacement is appropriate.

Fixture Repair and Installation
Leaking faucets, running toilets, faulty valves, and worn fixtures can waste water or make everyday tasks frustrating. Repairing a worn component may solve the problem; an older or badly damaged fixture may need replacement.

Routine Plumbing Maintenance
An inspection can help identify visible leaks, worn connections, drainage concerns, and other signs of trouble before they become larger problems. Ask which maintenance checks make sense for your plumbing system and the age and condition of your home.

The right service depends on what is happening in your home. Call Advanced Plumbing of Monroe at (734) 243-8830 to explain the issue and discuss the next step.

I have not used Advanced Plumbing before but I can already tell you when I need a plumber, I'll be calling them. My senior neighbor told me this evening that she called you guys this morning for what she thought was a sump pump alarm that had been driving her crazy for hours. One of your service men, Eric I believe she said, showed up and spent a 1/2 looking for the source of the alarm. He found it. It was her Carbon Monoxide detector that was malfunctioning. He advised her that it was important that she replace it, in which, she did. The best part of this story is that they did not charge her a dime to come out. I was so grateful to hear this that I think it is noteworthy to bring attention to this act of kindness from this company and the kind of people you employ. It says a lot about you! Thank you!!!! From the neighbor of the grateful lady you helped this morning!

I have used Advanced for all of my plumbing needs, emergency or routine maintenance. They are able to get me on the schedule very quickly with competitive pricing. Eric is fantastic. He does excellent work, doesn’t do work that isn’t needed and talks you through everything. The other techs I’ve had are just as great. I refer everyone who needs work to them. Don’t hesitate to call them. Hands down, the best around.

Called to get a leak fixed in my upstairs bathroom. (Had an existing access hole in the ceiling) He came out to diagnose the problem, adjusted the water spout and silicone the spout, and put an access in the wall for another angle to see the problem. Said that should fix it. Still leaking called the office and she told me they will come out and diagnose the problem, and I would be charged again. They already came out and missed diagnosed the problem. Now they want to come out again and charge me again for another diagnosis that they didn't solve. I want to support their business but to keep charging to diagnose a problem that isn't correctly diagnose is just wrong. I'm glad to pay for a leak that is fixed. But to keep playing elimination until you find the leak and charging me is not the way to solve this. She didn't have any solutions to give me other than keep charging me.

We appreciate any and all feedback. We did look back at our notes regarding this job. The initial visit on October 30, 2024 was to assess and repair a leak on a 3" pvc sewer line between the first and second floor in the ceiling. We have noted down that there was already a hole cut and it is suspected that approximately 2' needed to be cut out and repaired. That leak was repaired on site by cutting out the bad section of 3” pvc at a coupling that wasn’t glued. On December 9, 2024 we were called back out for a potential follow-up. Our notes state that there was still a leak in the ceiling. Upon arrival, it was described to us that the leak was in a separate area, near the tub, resulting in a new service call, not a follow-up. There was already a hole cut in the drywall ceiling below. Investigative work began where we ran water at the tub/shower fixture. We did not see anything leaking. We did, however, notice that the spout wasn’t siliconed against the shower wall. We adjusted and siliconed the tub spout to the wall and explained that water could sometimes run down the wall behind the spout resulting in a leak. We also cut access on the backside of the tub/shower and found no leaks. We provided and installed an access panel and advised to keep an eye on the area and to call if anything further leaks. Today, March 18, 2025 (99 days after the service call) we received a call stating there was still a leak in the ceiling area. We explained that we would treat this as a new service call to further investigate and diagnose the unknown leak. We understand leaks can be frustrating because they can be hard to locate, especially when we cannot get it to leak while on site. We are more than willing and happy to come out to further diagnose the ongoing leak as a service. We do appreciate your business and feedback and look forward to working with you again in the future.

Had them out to do regular service my hot water on demand system for descaling. They were able to get me in within a day of calling them. The tech Eric explained a lot about the system. He identified a potential issue with the system and fixed it on the spot. The tech was very respectful and performed great work. The scheduler on the phone was friendly and kind. I would recommend them to friends and family for any future plumbing work.

Frequently Asked Questions

What residential plumbing services are available in New Boston, Michigan?
Advanced Plumbing of Monroe provides residential plumbing help for leak detection and repair, clogged drains, water heater repair and installation, fixture upgrades, pipe replacement, and routine plumbing maintenance. Call (734) 243-8830 to discuss your needs and confirm the right service for your home.

How much do residential plumbing services cost in New Boston, MI?
Every plumbing job is different, so the cost depends on the work your home needs. Call us at (734) 243-8830 for an accurate quote. We can discuss the problem, the likely scope of the work, and the next steps before you decide how to proceed.

What affects the cost of a residential plumbing repair?
The price depends on the type of problem, how easy it is to reach the affected pipes or fixtures, the parts and materials required, the condition of the existing plumbing, and whether the repair reveals additional damage. A simple fixture repair and a hidden pipe leak can require very different amounts of work. Call (734) 243-8830 to discuss your situation and get a quote based on the job.

How long does a plumbing repair take?
The time needed depends on the type of repair, the location of the problem, the availability of parts, and whether additional damage needs attention. A straightforward fixture repair may take much less time than replacing damaged piping or tracing a hidden leak. Once the problem has been assessed, ask your plumber what the work involves and how long it should take.

How can I tell when my home needs a plumber?
Look for dripping faucets, running toilets, slow or repeatedly clogged drains, low water pressure, unexplained increases in your water bill, damp spots, water stains, unusual pipe noises, or inconsistent hot water. These signs can point to a plumbing issue that needs attention. If you notice a burst pipe, active flooding, or a suspected major leak, seek help right away.

What happens if I put off a plumbing repair?
A small leak can damage drywall, flooring, cabinets, and other building materials. Ongoing moisture can encourage mold growth, while a neglected drain or pipe problem may get worse over time. Delaying a water heater repair can also leave your household without reliable hot water. Addressing the issue early can help limit damage and reduce the chance of a larger repair.

What is included in residential plumbing service?
The work depends on the problem. A service visit may involve inspecting the affected plumbing, identifying the likely cause, explaining the repair options, discussing the required parts and materials, and completing the agreed work. Larger jobs may need further inspection or additional planning. Ask what is included in your specific quote before authorizing the work.

Should I repair my plumbing or replace the damaged part?
Repair is often a reasonable option when the problem is limited and the existing part remains in good condition. Replacement may make more sense when a component is badly worn, repeatedly failing, corroded, or no longer suited to your needs. A plumber can explain the pros and cons of each option based on the condition of your system and the expected work.

Can a plumber find a leak hidden behind a wall?
Yes. Professional leak detection can help locate hidden plumbing leaks without relying solely on visible signs. Water stains, peeling paint, damp smells, or unexplained water use can point to a concealed problem. The inspection method depends on the suspected leak and the construction of the affected area.

Do you provide emergency residential plumbing services in New Boston?
Advanced Plumbing of Monroe states that it offers 24/7 emergency plumbing availability. If a pipe bursts, water is spreading through your home, or a plumbing failure threatens further damage, call (734) 243-8830 for assistance and to discuss the response available for your situation.

How do I choose the right residential plumber?
Look for a plumber who communicates clearly, explains the cause of the problem, discusses repair and replacement options, provides a clear quote, and respects your home. Ask about relevant experience, licensing and insurance, the materials being used, and any workmanship warranty that applies. Make sure you understand what the quoted work covers before approving it.

What results should I expect after a plumbing repair?
The goal is to correct the identified problem and restore the affected plumbing to proper working order. Depending on the job, that may mean stopping a leak, clearing a drain, restoring hot water, or replacing a damaged pipe or fixture. Your plumber should explain any remaining concerns, recommended follow-up, and maintenance that may help prevent the same problem from returning.
