When Is It Time to Replace Your Water Heater in Ypsilanti?

You shouldn’t have to wait for the water to warm up or worry about running out mid-shower. We bring high-efficiency technology to your home, making sure your ypsilanti residential tankless water heater system runs perfectly. Dealing with outdated tanks is a thing of the past. Our team provides fast, dependable service to every neighborhood in Ypsilanti, Michigan. If you are tired of high bills and cold water, contact Advanced Plumbing of Monroe to get the job done right today.

If your water heater runs out of hot water during back-to-back showers or while the dishwasher is running, your current setup may not suit your household anymore. Other warning signs include fluctuating water temperatures, strange noises, visible corrosion, leaks, and utility bills that keep climbing without an obvious reason.

A tankless water heater can help reduce standby heat loss because it heats water when needed instead of storing a full tank of hot water. Actual energy savings depend on your existing system, water use, fuel costs, and the model you choose.

A leaking tank deserves prompt attention. Water can damage floors, drywall, cabinets, and nearby belongings. If you notice water around your heater, call a plumber to determine where it is coming from and whether the unit needs repair or replacement.

Don’t wait for a small water heater problem to turn into a bigger one. A minor performance issue may call for a repair, while a badly corroded or leaking tank may need replacement. The only way to know is to have the problem checked.

Advanced Plumbing of Monroe can discuss your water heater concerns and the options available for your Ypsilanti home. Call (734) 243-8830 to arrange service and find out what your system needs.

Planning Your Tankless Water Heater Installation in Ypsilanti

A good installation starts with the right system for your home. Before recommending a tankless water heater, we need to consider how much hot water your household uses, which fixtures may run at the same time, the available fuel source, and the space where the unit will go.

Your existing plumbing and utility connections matter, too. Some homes can accommodate a straightforward replacement, while others need changes to gas lines, electrical service, venting, or water connections.

Advanced Plumbing of Monroe serves homeowners in Ypsilanti, Michigan, with tankless water heater installation and related plumbing services. We’ll discuss the work involved and help you understand the available options before you make a decision.

What to Expect From Your Tankless Water Heater Installation

Every Ypsilanti home is different, so we start by reviewing your current water heater, plumbing connections, and household hot water needs.

Depending on your project, installation may include:

– Reviewing your daily hot water use and selecting a suitable unit size.
– Checking the existing gas supply or electrical service.
– Assessing venting requirements and the proposed installation location.
– Disconnecting and removing the old heater when replacement is part of the job.
– Connecting the new unit to the water supply and required utilities.
– Testing the installation and checking that the system operates as intended.

The final scope depends on the equipment, existing conditions, and any required changes. We’ll explain the work that applies to your home rather than assume every installation follows the same process.

A properly sized tankless water heater can provide a steady supply of hot water within its rated capacity. It cannot deliver unlimited hot water regardless of demand, so choosing a unit that fits your household is important.

I have not used Advanced Plumbing before but I can already tell you when I need a plumber, I'll be calling them. My senior neighbor told me this evening that she called you guys this morning for what she thought was a sump pump alarm that had been driving her crazy for hours. One of your service men, Eric I believe she said, showed up and spent a 1/2 looking for the source of the alarm. He found it. It was her Carbon Monoxide detector that was malfunctioning. He advised her that it was important that she replace it, in which, she did. The best part of this story is that they did not charge her a dime to come out. I was so grateful to hear this that I think it is noteworthy to bring attention to this act of kindness from this company and the kind of people you employ. It says a lot about you! Thank you!!!! From the neighbor of the grateful lady you helped this morning!

I have used Advanced for all of my plumbing needs, emergency or routine maintenance. They are able to get me on the schedule very quickly with competitive pricing. Eric is fantastic. He does excellent work, doesn’t do work that isn’t needed and talks you through everything. The other techs I’ve had are just as great. I refer everyone who needs work to them. Don’t hesitate to call them. Hands down, the best around.

Called to get a leak fixed in my upstairs bathroom. (Had an existing access hole in the ceiling) He came out to diagnose the problem, adjusted the water spout and silicone the spout, and put an access in the wall for another angle to see the problem. Said that should fix it. Still leaking called the office and she told me they will come out and diagnose the problem, and I would be charged again. They already came out and missed diagnosed the problem. Now they want to come out again and charge me again for another diagnosis that they didn't solve. I want to support their business but to keep charging to diagnose a problem that isn't correctly diagnose is just wrong. I'm glad to pay for a leak that is fixed. But to keep playing elimination until you find the leak and charging me is not the way to solve this. She didn't have any solutions to give me other than keep charging me.

We appreciate any and all feedback. We did look back at our notes regarding this job. The initial visit on October 30, 2024 was to assess and repair a leak on a 3" pvc sewer line between the first and second floor in the ceiling. We have noted down that there was already a hole cut and it is suspected that approximately 2' needed to be cut out and repaired. That leak was repaired on site by cutting out the bad section of 3” pvc at a coupling that wasn’t glued. On December 9, 2024 we were called back out for a potential follow-up. Our notes state that there was still a leak in the ceiling. Upon arrival, it was described to us that the leak was in a separate area, near the tub, resulting in a new service call, not a follow-up. There was already a hole cut in the drywall ceiling below. Investigative work began where we ran water at the tub/shower fixture. We did not see anything leaking. We did, however, notice that the spout wasn’t siliconed against the shower wall. We adjusted and siliconed the tub spout to the wall and explained that water could sometimes run down the wall behind the spout resulting in a leak. We also cut access on the backside of the tub/shower and found no leaks. We provided and installed an access panel and advised to keep an eye on the area and to call if anything further leaks. Today, March 18, 2025 (99 days after the service call) we received a call stating there was still a leak in the ceiling area. We explained that we would treat this as a new service call to further investigate and diagnose the unknown leak. We understand leaks can be frustrating because they can be hard to locate, especially when we cannot get it to leak while on site. We are more than willing and happy to come out to further diagnose the ongoing leak as a service. We do appreciate your business and feedback and look forward to working with you again in the future.

Had them out to do regular service my hot water on demand system for descaling. They were able to get me in within a day of calling them. The tech Eric explained a lot about the system. He identified a potential issue with the system and fixed it on the spot. The tech was very respectful and performed great work. The scheduler on the phone was friendly and kind. I would recommend them to friends and family for any future plumbing work.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does residential tankless water heater installation cost in Ypsilanti, Michigan?

The cost depends on your home, the system you choose, and the work needed to install it. Replacing an existing tankless unit can involve different work than converting from a traditional tank. Call Advanced Plumbing of Monroe at (734) 243-8830 for a quote based on your home’s needs. We won’t guess at a price without understanding the job.

What affects the cost of installing a tankless water heater?

Several details affect the total cost, including the unit’s size and fuel type, the condition of your current plumbing, gas line or electrical requirements, venting, and the location of the new heater. Older homes may need extra work to support the new system. We’ll review the setup and explain what your installation requires before you decide how to proceed.

How long does tankless water heater installation take?

Some straightforward replacements can be completed in one day. A conversion from a storage tank or a job that requires new gas lines, electrical work, venting, or plumbing changes may take longer. We can give you a more useful time estimate after reviewing your home and the work involved.

How do I know when it’s time to replace my water heater?

Watch for water that runs cold too soon, frequent temperature changes, leaks, unusual noises, rising energy bills, or repeated repair needs. Rust or corrosion around an older tank can be another warning sign. A plumber can check whether a repair makes sense or whether a new tankless system is worth considering.

What happens if I put off replacing a failing water heater?

You may face more breakdowns, unreliable hot water, and higher running costs. If a storage tank develops a serious leak, water can damage nearby flooring, walls, or belongings. If your heater is leaking or showing signs of failure, arrange an inspection rather than waiting for it to stop working completely.

Is a tankless water heater better than a traditional tank?

It depends on your household and how you use hot water. Tankless systems heat water as it flows through the unit, so they don’t keep a large tank hot throughout the day. They take up less space and can reduce energy use in suitable homes. Traditional tanks may cost less to install and can be a practical choice for some households. We’ll help you compare the options based on your hot water demand, available fuel, installation needs, and budget.

What is included in a residential tankless water heater installation?

The job starts with reviewing your household’s hot water needs and the condition of the existing setup. Installation may include choosing and sizing the unit, removing the old heater when needed, connecting water and fuel or electrical supplies, installing suitable venting, checking safety requirements, and testing the finished system. The exact work depends on your home and the equipment selected.

Will a tankless water heater provide enough hot water for my family?

A correctly sized system can supply hot water on demand, but its output is limited. The right choice depends on how many showers, faucets, and appliances may need hot water at the same time, as well as the incoming water temperature. We’ll help assess your household’s usage so the system can meet your needs as closely as possible.

Does a tankless water heater need regular maintenance?

Yes. Many tankless units need periodic flushing or descaling to remove mineral buildup, along with checks of key components and connections. The maintenance schedule depends on the manufacturer’s guidance, your water quality, and how much hot water your household uses. Regular service can help keep the system working properly and identify developing problems early.

Can I replace my traditional water heater with a tankless model?

In many homes, yes, but the change isn’t always a simple swap. The installation may require adjustments to gas supply, electrical service, venting, water connections, or the heater’s location. A professional assessment can identify what needs to change and whether a tankless model suits your home.

How do I choose the right tankless water heater installer in Ypsilanti?

Look for a plumber who understands tankless systems, checks your home’s actual hot water demand, explains any gas, electrical, plumbing, or venting changes, and provides a clear quote before work begins. Ask how the system will be tested and what maintenance it will need. Call Advanced Plumbing of Monroe at (734) 243-8830 to discuss your installation and ask questions before committing to the work.

How do I schedule residential tankless water heater installation in Ypsilanti?
